When it comes to finding the right job, it can be easy to fall victim to the temptation to just search the world for the perfect job, says the latest report by the CBI’s regional recruitment group.
The CBI Regional Talent Search (RTS) said that the number of job seekers for the region has increased by 2.6% since the end of last year and is forecast to grow by 4.4% by 2020.
The RTS says that the region was ranked #2 in the UK for recruitment in 2018, #3 in 2019 and #4 in 2020.
“We are proud to have been a member of the CBI Regional Team for five years and have developed an effective recruitment system that can be used by recruiters and recruiters in all regions of the UK,” said CBI Regional Director, John Williams.
“This report highlights how the RTS has developed in the last five years as the region’s recruiting network has grown from four to 15 teams.”
The report shows that the RTs recruitment system is highly effective at targeting the recruitment of talent for a wide range of industries and sectors across the region.
“As the recruitment season is drawing to a close, we know that recruitment has become more complex as firms seek to improve the quality of their talent pool and as a result, it is becoming more difficult to find the right people for every job.”
Job hunting, particularly in the tech and finance sectors, is often viewed as the biggest challenge to the recovery in the region, with the unemployment rate hovering around 25% in some regions.
The RTS said that in 2019, the region accounted for 15.3% of the national job market and this proportion is expected to rise to 18.6 per cent by 2020, the third highest proportion in the country.
The report also highlighted the challenges of recruitment and how to get the best results out of talent, as the recruitment sector is now seeing the greatest demand for talent and the skills that employers need to hire.
“A key challenge is the need to recruit people for jobs across the country, particularly for companies in the financial and technology sectors, where the recruitment cycle is a long one,” said Williams.
“We are also seeing the need for talent to move to remote locations to fill roles that can only be filled in-person, as well as opportunities for people to relocate to new regions to gain additional skills.”
Jobseekers can sign up to take part in the RT, which runs from November 1st until March 31st, by completing the online application form and by completing a local job search form.
It will then provide the regional employer with the detailed information and profile of the candidate, including a detailed breakdown of their work history, qualifications and experience.
