Posted October 03, 2018 09:58:50 The New York City Football Club announced today that it has signed veteran midfielder Dario Franchi and defender Matt Miazga to new contracts.
Franchi, 35, who was a member of the FC Barcelona team that reached the 2014 UEFA Champions League final, made 28 appearances for the team last season and added three goals.
Franchis, who also has experience in Germany, has played in the Bundesliga and in Spain, with whom he won the 2011 FIFA World Player of the Year award.
He also won the 2009 UEFA Europa League with Bayer Leverkusen.
Miazgas, 28, joined the New York Cosmos from FC Barcelona in 2015, after spending the previous two seasons with FC Porto in Portugal.
The midfielder was a part of the squad that reached its third UEFA Champions, Euro and UEFA Europa Leagues finals, the 2011-12 UEFA Europa Final and the 2012-13 UEFA Europa Cup.
He has also made two appearances for Portugal.
The Cosmos will begin the 2017 season in Major League Soccer (MLS) action at home against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, October 10.
